4. Layered Sand and Wax Coastal Candles

4

Capturing the serene feeling of a day at the beach is easy with layered sand and wax coastal candles. This craft utilizes clear glass cylinder vases or mason jars, fine colored craft sand or natural beach sand, seashells, and gel wax or paraffin wax. Start by pouring a half-inch layer of sand into the bottom of your clean glass container. Next, nestle a few small seashells, pieces of sea glass, or bits of driftwood into the sand near the edges so they will be visible from the outside. Secure a low-smoke wick in the center of the container, ensuring it reaches above the final height of your layers. Melt your candle wax and carefully pour a thin layer over the sand, allowing it to cool slightly before adding another alternating layer of sand, small stones, or colored wax to create a striated, stratified geological effect. This project allows for immense creative expression as you play with different color gradients, textures, and embedded coastal elements to evoke your favorite seaside memories.
