3. Botanical Resin Coasters

Resin art has captured the imagination of modern makers, and embedding real dried flowers into crystal-clear epoxy resin creates breathtaking functional home decor. For this project, you will need a silicone coaster mold kit, two-part epoxy resin, mixing cups, stirring sticks, and a collection of small dried flowers, colorful petals, and tiny pressed leaves. Mix your resin and hardener strictly according to the manufacturer instructions, stirring slowly to minimize air bubbles, and let it rest for a few minutes. Pour a thin base layer of clear resin into the bottom of your silicone mold. Using tweezers, carefully place your dried flowers face down into the resin layer so that the front of the blooms will be visible through the bottom of the finished coaster. Allow this initial layer to set partially for a few hours until it becomes tacky, which prevents your flowers from floating or shifting out of place. Pour the remaining resin to fill the mold to the brim, and use a heat gun on a low setting swept quickly across the surface to pop any remaining bubbles. Once fully cured after twenty-four to forty-eight hours, demold your glossy botanical coasters. They make exquisite gifts and add a sophisticated, nature-inspired accent to your coffee table.
