9. Teacup Candles and Pin Cushions
Vintage ceramic teacups and saucers are frequent finds at garage sales, flea markets, and thrift stores, often sold individually without matching sets. Because they are delicate and full of nostalgic charm, they make the ultimate containers for handmade soy wax candles or dainty sewing pin cushions.
To create custom teacup candles, purchase flakes of natural soy wax and cotton candle wicks with metal base tabs. Secure the wick tab to the exact center of the teacup bottom using a dab of hot glue. Keep the wick centered and upright by resting a pencil or popsicle stick across the rim of the cup. Melt your soy wax flakes in a double boiler, stir in a few drops of your favorite essential oils—such as lavender, vanilla, or eucalyptus—and carefully pour the warm wax into the teacup, leaving a small gap at the top.
