4. Pom Pom Bookmarks: Reading Buddies

4
Make reading time even more special with a handmade pom pom bookmark. These are quick to make and add a playful touch to any book. Start by creating a small pom pom, then attach it to a strip of cardstock, felt, or even a wooden craft stick. For extra durability, laminate the cardstock or coat it with clear nail polish.

Materials: Yarn, pom pom maker, cardstock/felt/wooden stick, glue, scissors, decorative tape (optional), ribbon (optional).

Time: 10–20 minutes.

Difficulty: Very easy.

Kids can customize their bookmarks with themes. For example, a unicorn bookmark could have a pastel pom pom with a felt horn and ears glued to the top. A monster bookmark might feature a pom pom with googly eyes and a row of felt teeth. For a simpler look, attach a single pom pom to the end of a ribbon and tie it to the bookmark strip.

Helpful tip: If the pom pom feels too bulky for a bookmark, flatten it slightly or use a very small size.
