7. Egg Carton Flower Wreath

7
Cardboard egg cartons are wonderfully versatile. Pull them apart and the little cup-shaped sections transform into charming flower petals. Combine a whole bunch of them and you have a wreath that looks like it came from a high-end boutique.

Materials: Two cardboard egg cartons, scissors, acrylic paint, a cardboard ring or wire wreath form, hot glue, and a ribbon for hanging.

Instructions: Separate the egg carton cups by cutting them apart individually. Trim each cup into a flower shape by snipping the edges into four, five, or six petals. Paint each flower in your desired colors. While they dry, cut a ring out of cardboard or use a wire wreath form. Once the flowers are dry, attach them to the form with hot glue, layering them closely together until the entire ring is covered. Finish with a ribbon bow at the top and hang.

Time: About an hour plus drying.

Difficulty: Easy to moderate, depending on how many flowers you make.

Customization: This wreath can be made for any season. Pastels for spring, deep reds and oranges for autumn, or all white with silver accents for winter.

Helpful tip: Slightly cup each flower by gently pressing the center inward as the paint dries, giving the petals a more natural, dimensional shape.
