9. Wine Cork Bulletin Board

9
If you’ve been saving wine corks in a drawer or jar, this is the project that finally puts them to use. Cut in half and arranged in a wooden frame, they create a beautiful, rustic bulletin board that’s perfect for pinning notes, jewelry, or small photos.

Materials: Around 30 to 50 wine corks, a shallow wooden frame or shadow box, a serrated knife, strong craft glue, and a piece of cardboard or cork sheet to fit inside the frame.

Instructions: Slice each cork in half lengthwise using a serrated knife. A little sawing motion works better than trying to press straight through. Once you have enough halves, lay them out inside the frame to plan your pattern. You can alternate the cut sides up and down, arrange them in stripes, or create a herringbone design. Once you’re happy with the layout, glue each cork half firmly to the base inside the frame. Let everything dry flat, then hang or place on a desk.

Time: Around an hour plus drying.

Difficulty: Moderate due to the cork cutting, but no special skills required.

Customization: Paint the wooden frame to match your decor, or leave it natural for a rustic look.

Helpful tip: A good serrated knife is essential. A smooth blade will squish the cork rather than cutting it cleanly.
