9. Reclaimed Wooden Bead Garland

Styling flat surfaces like coffee tables, entry consoles, and stacks of books can be challenging. Professional stylists often use wooden bead garlands to drape over objects, adding a layer of soft texture, movement, and warmth to a vignette. Instead of buying these popular accents at home decor boutiques, you can make your own custom length in just a few minutes.
Purchase a pack of unfinished wooden beads in various sizes from a craft store. Thread them onto a thick piece of jute twine or cotton string, experimenting with alternating sizes to create visual interest. Once you reach your desired length, tie off the ends. You can leave the ends plain, or create decorative tassels by wrapping twine around a piece of cardboard, cutting the loops, and tying them to the ends of your garland. Leave the wood natural, or stain it for a richer, more rustic appearance.
