8. Resin Coasters and Trivets

Resin coasters have exploded in popularity because of their glass-like finish, endless customization, and impressive gift appeal. They’re heavier to ship than other handmade items, but they command higher prices and feel substantial in the hand. Beginners can produce beautiful pieces on their first try with a little patience.
You’ll need two-part epoxy resin, silicone coaster molds, colorant (mica powders, alcohol inks, or pigments), and inclusions like dried flowers, gold leaf, glitter, or small pressed botanicals. Measure and mix the resin according to the package directions, add your colorant, pour into molds, and use a toothpick or heat gun to pop air bubbles. Layer colors and inclusions for depth, and let everything cure for at least 24 hours before demolding.
A batch of 4–6 coasters takes about 90 minutes of active time, plus curing. Difficulty is medium because resin has a limited working time and is sensitive to temperature and humidity. Always work in a well-ventilated area and wear gloves.
Sets of four coasters in a gift box are a popular bundle. Themed sets (autumn leaves, ocean blues, terracotta tones, holiday metallics) photograph beautifully and sell well around gift-giving seasons.
