8. Easy Origami Boat
Take a delightful trip down memory lane by folding a classic paper boat that floats gently in puddles, bathtubs, or shallow decorative bowls. This nostalgic craft is remarkably quick to assemble and serves as a wonderful introduction to sequential folding and inversion techniques. Start with a rectangular sheet of paper, such as standard printer paper or lightweight construction paper. Fold the paper in half lengthwise, bringing the top edge down to meet the bottom edge. Rotate the paper so the folded crease is at the top. Fold the top left and right corners down diagonally to meet in the center, forming a house-like pentagon shape. Fold the single layer of paper at the bottom upward along the base of the triangle, flip the paper over, and repeat on the back side. Open the bottom of the triangle gently and flatten it sideways to transform the shape into a smaller square diamond. Fold the bottom corner upward to meet the top corner on both sides, creating a smaller triangle. Once again, open the bottom of this triangle and flatten it sideways into a square. Finally, gently pull the outer left and right corners outward to unlock and reveal the hollow hull of your brand-new paper boat. It is a timeless project that never fails to spark creativity and joy.
