7. Pegboard Wall Organizer for a Desk or Craft Corner

A pegboard is a classic workshop solution that works just as well in a small apartment. It can organize desk supplies, craft tools, jewelry, or kitchen utensils. Because it uses vertical space, it frees up your tabletop and drawers for other things.
Materials: pegboard panel, 1×2 wooden spacers, screws, wall anchors, pegboard hooks, small bins, paint or contact paper.
Instructions: Paint or cover the pegboard before mounting. Attach the 1×2 spacers to the back so there is room for hooks. Hold the pegboard against the wall, mark the screw holes, and install anchors. Screw the board into place. Add hooks and bins, then arrange your items by frequency of use.
Time: 1–2 hours. Difficulty: Moderate.
Customize the pegboard with a coat of chalkboard paint and labels, or use a bright color to make your desk area feel playful. In a kitchen, hang measuring cups and spatulas. In a bathroom, use it for hair tools and towels. A budget alternative is a framed corkboard with pushpins, but it will not hold as much weight.
Helpful tip: Place heavier items near the bottom and lighter items near the top. This keeps the board stable and prevents hooks from pulling out. If you rent, consider a freestanding pegboard panel that leans against the wall.
