7. A Rustic Crate Harvest Display
An old wooden crate might be the easiest container in fall decorating — just fill it and you’re done. Load it with pumpkins, gourds, and dried wheat stalks so it overflows naturally, and set it beside the door or at the bottom of the steps.
The weathered wood adds instant rustic charm, and the crate makes the whole display look intentional. Tilt a few gourds outward over the edges for that abundant, harvest-basket feel.
What You’ll Need
- 1 wooden crate (stained or weathered)
- 4-6 small pumpkins and gourds
- 1 bundle of dried wheat stalks
How to Make
- Set the crate upright beside the door or steps.
- Place the largest pumpkin in the back center.
- Fill in around it with smaller gourds and pumpkins.
- Push wheat stalks in upright between the pumpkins.
