5. Yarn-Wrapped Wreath with Felt Balls

Wreaths are pricey, and the handmade versions are usually the ones people compliment. Start with a straw or foam wreath form and a skein of chunky yarn. Tie the yarn to the form and wrap, pushing each loop snug against the last so no foam peeks through. It takes about an hour for a standard 12-inch form.

Once the form is covered, hot glue felt balls in a loose diagonal pattern, clustering a few colors together rather than spacing them evenly. A cream, oatmeal, and dusty green palette feels timeless; bright red and white reads more playful.

Time: 1 to 1.5 hours. Difficulty: easy. A thinner yarn means more wrapping and a smoother finish; chunky yarn covers faster but shows more texture. Hang it on the front door with a wide ribbon, or lean it on a shelf above a stack of books and a candle.
