6. Paper Plate Pumpkin Faces

6
Paper plates are a crafting staple for a reason—they’re versatile, cheap, and the perfect blank canvas for little hands. This project lets kids design their own pumpkin characters, complete with silly or spooky faces, and it’s a great way to explore emotions and storytelling.

Materials: Paper plates, orange and green construction paper or paint, scissors, glue, black marker, googly eyes (optional), popsicle sticks (optional).

Instructions: Start by painting the paper plates orange (or glue on orange construction paper to cover the plate). While the plates dry, cut out green stems and leaves from construction paper. Let the kids glue these to the top of the plates. Then, they can draw or glue on eyes, noses, and mouths to create their pumpkin’s expression—happy, silly, or spooky. For a fun twist, attach a popsicle stick to the back to turn the pumpkins into masks. Hang them up or use them as puppets for imaginative play.
